The New Visions Day Program re-opened in June of 2021 in a new location in Calera, Alabama. New Visions provides services to adult individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Shelby and Chilton county areas. Our program participants are provided with opportunities to continue educational services that address their specific needs and increase their independence. The key component of our program is providing opportunities for inclusion and participation as active members of the community.
New Visions Day Program participants receive skills training and participate in community-based recreation, individual and group activities, and volunteer opportunities. Day Program participants are enabled to create opportunities to fully invest their time and talents with local community members and groups.
Through individualized or group coaching and training by a Life Skills Coach, day program participants have the opportunity to work on personal skills, social skills, communication skills, self-help skills, daily living/independence skills, social and adaptive skills, and recreation/leisure activities. All services are based on individualized service plans, with the overall goal of each participant achieving their goals and to the greatest extent possible, a full community-based life.
